HUNT

“I do not hunt for the joy of killing but for the joy of living, and the inexpressible pleasure of mingling my life however briefly, with that of a wild creature that I respect, admire and value.”

MATT HARGROVE is a hunter, husband, father, seeker, butcher, cook, and complete outdoor fanatic. He hunts wherever they let him and will cook, eat, try, and try again any recipe, technique, or strategy he finds. He is an outspoken advocate for wild things and wild places and the conservation of all that they hold. He believes that public land should remain public, meat is better with tendons, and a heavy broadhead is better than a fast arrow.

COOK

“Cooking is a craft, I like to think, and a good cook is a craftsman — not an artist. There’s nothing wrong with that: the great cathedrals of Europe were built by craftsmen — though not designed by them. Practicing your craft in expert fashion is noble, honorable and satisfying.”

EAT

"The big curse of America, to me, is skinless, boneless chicken breasts. They're banal and relatively flavorless. The rest of the world's trying to get some fat to eat, and we're trying to ban it from our diet."
